Are Churches at War with Christmas?
Since Christmas falls on a Sunday this year, a number of churches are scaling back or even canceling their services because of the conflict. I'm not sure if that's a victory or a defeat for Christmas. Certainly, it shows how significant and important Christmas is, making churches stop what they'd normally be doing in recognition of the holiday, but on the other hand . . .

Can you imagine a church full of little kids who were forced to go to church before opening their presents? Conversely, can you imagine a church full of little kids who were forced to go to church immediately after opening their presents? The kids would be so bored and irritated they'd kick holes right through the pews in front of them out of sheer boredom and irritability, not to mention the deafening whining factor that would no doubt ensue.
Damage caused to church pews nationwide on Christmas would extend into the tens of millions of dollars. No number of bake sales over the year could adequately cover the damages. The churches scale back Christmas services out of self-preservation. Churches should be holy, not holey.
