Happy Thanksgiving!

Much of the country may be more susceptible to snow rather than rain today, but just try to keep your hat dry. Nothing is worse than a drooping pilgrim hat.

I hope you get to spend Thanksgiving the way you prefer--with family if that's enjoyable; away from family if you'd prefer; watching football; ignoring the Chicago Bears--whatever makes you happy. And leave room for dessert.

A Veterans Day Commemoration

"The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month." That saw the armistice that brought the end of World War I nearly 100 years ago, and it has been remembered in one way or another throughout much of the world ever since. After the Korean War, the United States renamed Armistice Day to Veterans Day in order to broaden its focus to all military veterans rather than just those who fought in the First World War. Thus, we thank and appreciate all who have served, but I hope you'll forgive me for sticking with the WWI imagery, which I still find stirring.
