Celebrate on the Fourth!

We took a look at an iconic captain for Canada Day on Monday, so it's only fair to hold to the same theme three days later and present the star-spangled Avenger for Independence Day. This is the first issue of the modern run of Captain America's solo title (pay no attention to the 100 along the left side of the cover). Cap seems poised to head into the future, so let's follow his example!

Let's celebrate today with the debut of one of Canada's most prominent homegrown heroes. This is particularly appropriate this year, because we're supposed to be seeing another debut sometime later this evening--a new Captain Canuck animated web series! Friday's Toronto Star provides an awful lot of details about the history of both the character and his publishing career. And is there a full-on movie in the works? Could be.

They're talking about going live this evening, so I'll keep an eye out and post a link when the episode is available. If you're in Toronto, you might want to wander over to Silver Snail for the premiere party and an early screening. And just in case waiting is too difficult, here's the trailer to get your appetite whetted.
