I always find these floating Monday holidays somewhat awkward. Martin Luther King's birthday was actually last Tuesday, but--officially, at least--we ignore that until we can milk a three-day weekend out of it (for those who actually
get a three-day weekend). But Martin Luther King certainly has a life and legacy worthy of commemoration, so we should be happy for whatever official recognition we can get.
And it seems like there's something else significant that's going on somewhere today, as well. I'm sure it'll come to me before too long.
