What to Read

There's been some good commentary popping up on various blogs over the last few days. Over at his Whiskey Bar, Billmon put up a couple of intriguing posts on Friday. First, in a fairly long piece, he talks about journalistic amnesia, particularly in reference to an LA Times news analysis recalling the specific campaign promises President Bush made to overhaul Social Security. No, Billmon doesn't remember them, either, and he provides details.

In another post, he wonders whether the White House is running a disinformation campaign on the press. He's not making the actual accusation, but he notes that planting a false Quran desecration story in Newsweek would be an effective method of paving the way for the official admissions of Quran desecration that came out this weekend.
