You Know Who You Are

Here's a little something for those of us who've been missing the Binny's troubadour.

That ... actually works.

For a back-handed compliment, they almost kill the chorus in a couple of places by having too many *good* voices - instead of sounding like the outer limits of the singer's ability, it verges on barbershop harmony.

On the other hand, the opening fingersnaps/thunder-jumps were well beyond the pale. It did not set the stage properly for the vocal quality on display. It was more like an over-ambitious, small Iowa high school swing choir.

But that's nit-pickin' isn't?

Dunno about Binny's but I do love a cover of Africa--we've discussed Toto here before though. And was that guy wearing a yellow ascot tie?

Just so nobody gets the wrong idea, I hate Toto. Always have.

Actually, I thought the snapping and jumping was effective. If you just listen and don't watch what they're doing, I think it sounds like rain coming on and thunder. When you see how they do it, though, I'll admit that it's a bit hokey.

I enjoyed that! Full disclosure - When Toto's version was still on the charts, I 'special ordered' the sheet music of this song as a gift for a friend. This was so long ago that I actually had to walk into a music store and have the clerk look it up in a printed catalog and write out my order. Talk about primitive!
